Problems With the College Football Bcs

The BCS (Bowl Championship Series, for short) system is designed to determine who plays the national title game. Only the first two college football teams are selected. This system was created in 1998 as a way to select the best two teams for games nationwide. Initially, when you consider the best system is adopted, the votes have been taken into consideration human. However, this would be a partial system, since, if based solely on the ratings of humans, computers that do not play, but popular vote could be played year after year. There is always the danger of double voting biasness rather than performance. This difficulty in maintaining the general public happy. To resolve this problem, the team entered the picture. Besides taking votes from the writers of the Associated Press and coaches in mind, the system also uses the methods of seven qualifying BCS team to reach a total score. Several factors such as the number of losses, the number of wins when they face the best teams, etc. are classifying formulas. The two teams with the most points will play in the competition for the national title. However, this system is not without its share of problems. For example, in 2000, both Florida State and Miami lost a single game. When the vote was human, Miami was chosen as the second team and Florida State was third. The surprise, however, of all, when the team did the math, Florida, actually finished second – ahead of Miami. This means that the State of Florida has actually qualified for the national title race. Obviously, some fans are not happy with the results. In 2001, Colorado, Nebraska, lost in the final game and won its conference. Colorado has emerged as the strongest team, winning your conference. Voters agreed, and most human roots to Colorado. However, when the classification of team are out, everything was once again surprised – Nebraska qualified! Everyone thought the BCS system should have went crazy. But how equipment can be totally to blame? After all, only after a series of instructions input by humans to choose two teams apparently well deserved to play for the national team. Its main function is to make everybody happy. Indeed, it may be an impossible task. Whatever system is chosen BCS teams, there are some who will be happy. Of course, all college football fans want their favorite team to qualify. If the support team does not qualify, will be unhappy, and you blame the BCS system. Maybe that’s why year after year, reports of defects in the BCS system kept regenerating. Of course, no system, in this perfect world. All major sports leagues like the NFL and NBA have their own systems, and are not perfect. But the conclusion is to do the job. Until a better system can be shown to work better than the current system, the BCS system will be housed.
