What College Football Team Won A Game By Pitching The Football Down Field To Score?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

What football team won the game by pitching the football all the way down field to score? Tossing the football around, avoiding being tackled; so they pitch the ball to their team mates with little time left, and they went down and scored. I don’t know if they did that to win the game or they did that for fun. All i know is that they are a college football team and they scored by pitching the ball around. Does anyone know?

What Is The Best College Football Movie Ever?

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Since most of the college football teams begins their football season today, or at some point this Labor Day weekend. I would like to take the time, to ask what is the best college football movie ever. And also please tell me why, you think that movie is the best college football movie ever. The only 2 college football movies that I can think of are Rudy, and We Are Marshall. And I bet there will be people having Rudy on the list, since I bet that it is an old favorite, but will a more of a recent movie We Are Marshall going to be on the list? And I bet that there are some others that I could be forgetting about at the moment.

Oklahoma Sooners 2008 College Football Team Preview

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Oklahoma finished the 2007 season at 11-3 as Big 12 champions. The Sooners averaged 6. 4 yards per play on offense, the most for the team since 1987. The offense should continue to thrive, but the defense may be a bit of a question mark at this point in time.
Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford had one of the best freshman seasons in college football history. Bradford threw for 3,121 yards and 36 touchdowns with just eight interceptions. He led the nation in passing efficiency and his 36 touchdown passes stand as the NCAA freshman record. With a talented and experienced offensive line in front of him and an army of weapons at his disposal, Bradford should continue to improve in his sophomore season.
The Oklahoma offensive line is led by future NFL players Duke Robinson and Phil Loadholt. In fact, all five starters are back this season for an offensive line that ranks as one of the top units in the country.
The Sooners also welcome back wide receivers Juaquin Iglesias and Manuel Johnson. Iglesias led the team last season with 68 catches for 907 yards and five touchdowns. Junior Jermaine Gresham steps into the starting spot at tight end and appears to be someone to watch.
Senior running back Allen Patrick is gone, but the cupboard is anything but bare. The tandem of DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown combined for 1,375 yards and 22 touchdowns last season. Murray is just a sophomore, but he possesses great speed and elusiveness. He could very well have a huge season.
The defense only returns six starters, but three of them are along the defensive line. Oklahoma will have to rely on the front four to control the line of scrimmage; at least until the back seven get settled. The front four were equally successful at stopping the run and the pass in 2007.
The linebacker corps returns only one starter, Ryan Reynolds, who has a history of injury problems. The success of this unit could depend on the development of redshirt freshmen Travis Lewis and Austin Box, as well as junior college transfers J. R. Bryant and Mike Balogun.
The secondary returns both safeties from last season, Nic Harris and Lendy Holmes. Both have all-star potential and they’ll need to show it because the team will have two new starting cornerbacks this season. The likely starters are junior Brian Jackson and sophomore Dominique Franks. Both played well in the spring, but it remains to be seen how that translates into the season.
Receivers Iglesias and Murray return for the top kickoff return unit in the nation last season. Mike Knall returns as one of the Big 12’s best punters, but Oklahoma needs someone to step up and win the kicker job.
The schedule is favorable for the Sooners to make a run at the national title. The one possible roadblock is October 11th when Oklahoma travels to Dallas to face Texas. Bradford should continue to impress with talent all around him. If the defense can hide its inexperience, the Sooners should prevail as Big 12 South champions and make a play for their eighth national championship.

College Football Lines-Learn How to Win Consistently

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

I have known a professional sports bettor for quite some time now. I call him a professional because that’s his main source of income and that he’s been consistently winning in almost every sports that he bet on. I asked him about the importance of learning the bettor’s lingo, stuff like odds, handicap, college football lines, and more. His reply was short.
“Learn them if you can. But remember, they’re just words,” he said.
I was immediately confused. I thought that isn’t it important that you learn all the terms that are used in any profession or hobby that you are considering of getting into? A phrase like college football lines can be quite daunting to any newcomer. He probably saw the confused look on my face because he was quick to follow it up.
“I’ll teach you what I consider as the basics that any first-time bettors should learn if he wants to consistently win in any bet,” he said. I was just glad and thankful for the free advice. So here are the top three tips that he gave me that day. I just summarized what he said and left out the rest of our conversation.
1. First of all, learn the terms such as handicap, college football lines, so on and so forth. It’s hard to place a bet when you don’t understand the words or terms that you’re using. Learn the lingo. But remember, these are just names. Saying them makes you sound professional. A term or concept like college football lines can get you so far ahead of the game. In short, learn the talk before you can walk the walk.
2. Be extra passionate about the sports. Yes, we are all in it for the money but you must also learn to love it, to be passionate about it. Be extra sensitive to whatever is happening to the teams. If you have a favorite team, and yes, you must have a favorite, learn about each player, the coaching stuff and the management. These are factors that have a great impact on the outcome of a game.
3. Place your bet on your favorite team. This is practical advice because it comes hand in hand with what I told you about being passionate about the game. If you have a favorite team then it means you follow them closely. That you are always updated on whatever is happening on that particular team. You know their stats, their level of morale and everything else that there is to know about your team. If you have all of these knowledge, it will be easier for you to understand the handicaps or college football lines of the time you’re in favor of.
Those are the three wonderful pieces of advice that this professional sports bettor imparted to me. I have placed bets before and I have won some but also lost some. But I haven’t heard of his advice then and right now I’m following every letter of his tips. I’ve been learning about college football lines, handicaps, odds and more. I’ve also been learning more about my favorite teams and I’m confident that I will be a professional and successful bettor in the next couple of months.

College Football Jerseys are Just One Great Gift Idea for the Holidays

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

Christmas is a very exciting time of year, but it can also be a very stressful time of year. This is because it takes a lot of organization, planning and often a decent amount of money to accomplish all of the tasks and shopping required to pull off a nice holiday. Most people have Christmas holiday traditions that include decorating by a certain date, baking Christmas cookies and other baked goods, planning out the holiday lunch or dinner, and of course, exchanging presents with one another. But if you’re going to be exchanging Christmas presents, you’re going to have to shop for them. And shopping means having money to spend, and knowing what everybody wants! For the sports guy or girl on your Christmas list, consider sports apparel for their holiday present. A college football jersey may be the way to go, particularly if they have a favorite college sports team that they support and follow. College football jerseys make for an excellent Christmas present because they come in many different colors, designs and sizes, and there is a jersey available for every college football team in existence. The nice thing about a jersey is that it does not discriminate against gender or size. Size availability ranges from infants on up to larger adults. So whether you’re shopping for a three year old sports fan or her fanatic uncle who also has a hearty appetite, you’re sure to find a college football jersey that’ll fit either of them perfectly. When shopping for college football jerseys, make sure to look for companies and manufacturers that sell the authentic brands. Unfortunately, there are knock-offs floating about, and you don’t want to get saddled with one, or worse yet, give one as a gift! That said, the authentic college football jersey will be made of the best materials, constructed well, and will have fade and stain resistant inks and paints used for the lettering and numbering. If you plan on shopping for college football jerseys, you should get started on your quest before December arrives. November and December are very busy months for merchants, so it’s important to get your order in early. This ensures that even if there is a back order on the particular football jersey you have selected, it should arrive and be shipped out to you in time for Christmas. If you do order after December 1st, select rush or priority mailing. This will cost more, but the money is worth spending if it means having a present to give before Christmas!

Recruiting for College Football: Offense and Defense

Friday, December 25th, 2009

The practice of college recruiting involves many sports, among them college football. College football is a popular sport in the USA. American football, known in the United States and Canada simply as football, is a competitive team sport. The objective of the game is to score points by advancing the ball into the opposing team’s end zone. Students who can play the game and eager to pursue their education with the help athletic scholarships try out during football recruiting.

In a football match there is an offensive and defensive team.   The offensive team has possession of the ball, and thus is able to score, while the defensive team needs to prevent the offense from bringing the ball into the end zone. Teams change their roles from offense to defense after a certain amount of plays to give both a fair opportunity to score. The offense or defense is decided before the start of the by a coin toss.   The visiting team is awarded the chance to call the coin toss.

A team generally scores points only when it is at the offense.   The task of the offensive team is to make their way into the other team’s territory and bring the ball to the endzone.   There are two ways to advance the ball through the field: by holding the ball and running with it, and by passing the ball to a teammate who, after receiving the ball, runs with it until he reaches the endzone.

The defensive team, on the other hand, is tasked to prevent the offense from scoring. They thwart the advances of the offensive players by stopping their attempts at scoring. Defensive players guard the offensive players, often tackling the one whoever is holding the ball.   The defense should try their best to keep the ball from moving forward at all. And, by tackling the ball-carrier, the defense can even move the offense’s ball backward to where the ball started at the beginning of the play.   Sometimes the defense manages to tackle the quarterback with the ball back to the line of scrimmage. This is known as a quarterback sack or a sack.

Students who want to succeed in football recruiting need to know more than the basics in football. They need to explore the various college campuses that are participating in college recruiting, and students need to determine which courses and offers are the best for them.

The Internet has proven to be an important and indispensable venue for both athletes and coaches in the college recruiting process. There are many websites and online forums wherein students and scouts can come together and interact during football recruiting. D1Athletes is an online community wherein athletes and coaches alike can share and exchange information they need. D1Athletes offers them a place to build an online presence and gain important public exposure.
